The objective of this study was to quantitatively estimate PM2.5 source contribution in Gyeongsan. Ambient PM2.5 samples have been collected on zefluor, quartz and nylasorb filter by PM2.5 samplers of cyclone method for September 2010 to December 2012. Collected samples were analyzed for determining 17 inorganic elements, 8 ions, and 8 carbon components after pretreatment. The average PM2.5 concentrations was 25.23 μg/m3, which was not exceeded 50 μg/m3/day of the air quality standards in 24 hours for be performed in 2015.
The average concentrations of each inorganic elements component for PM2.5 were Al 0.214 μg/m3, Ba 0.015 μg/m3, Ca 0.231 μg/m3, Cd 0.003 μg/m3, Cr 0.030 μg/m3, Cu 0.006 μg/m3, Fe 0.383 μg/m3, K 0.341 μg/m3, Mg 0.074 μg/m3, Mn 0.025 μg/m3, Na 0.266 μg /m3, Ni 0.017 μg/m3, Pb 0.169 μg/m3, Si 0.207 μg/m3, Ti 0.015 μg/m3, V 0.020 μg/m3, and Zn 0.110 μg/m3 respectively. Also, the average concentrations of each ion component for PM2.5 were Cl- 0.89 μg/m3, NO3- 5.62 μg/m3, SO42- 4.74 μg/m3, Na+ 0.35 μg/m3, NH4+ 2.86 μg/m3, K+ 0.32 μg/m3, Ca2+ 0.20 μg/m3, Mg2+ 0.07 μg/m3 respectively. The average concentrations of each carbon component for PM2.5 were OC1 0.209 μg/m3, OC2 1.013 μg/m3, OC3 1.279 μg/m3, OC4 1.143 μg/m3, OP 0.644 μg/m3, EC1 1.144 μg/m3, EC2 0.124 μg/m3, EC3 0.0004 μg/m3 respectively.
Based on these chemical information, the PMF model was applied to estimate the quantitative contribution of air pollution sources. The results of the PMF modeling showed that the sources were apportioned by Biomass Burning source (15.49 %), Secondary sulfate source (16.04 %), Industry source (10.43 %), Soil source (7.00 %), Gasoline source (9.04 %), Incinerator source (10.39 %), Diesel emission source (11.02 %), Secondary nitrate source (20.58 %), respectively. In addition CPF model and NPR model were applied to identify the predominant directions of local sources relative to wind direction. Also, this study compare the CPF analysis and NPR analysis result in location of actual local point sources at the Gyeongsan area.
