Emissions from fossil fuel combustions contribute to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations leading to climate change. Hydrogen has emerged as a new promising alternative fuel to order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and then mitigate global climate change. Recently, hydrogen fuel cell system, such as backup power generations and road vehicles, have been commercialized at a continually increasing rate. In order to operate fuel cell system efficiently and safely, it is required to check the quality of pure hydrogen because impurities even at trace levels in hydrogen can severely damage the fuel cell. The quality specifications (ISO 14687) of pure hydrogen have been developed to prevent the performance loss of fuel cells.
